Description

A delicious and creamy cheddar cheese sauce perfect for nachos, mac and cheese, or dipping!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp. all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup beer
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 cups freshly shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a medium skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
  2. Once melted, sprinkle the flour over the butter, and whisk to combine. It will form a thick paste.
  3. Cook 1-2 minutes.
  4. Slowly pour milk over flour mixture, whisking to combine.
  5. Once milk is incorporated, whisk in the beer.
  6. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt, and stir.
  7. Finally whisk in the cheese, and continue cooking, stirring until the cheese is melted and smooth.

Notes

  • This sauce can be used for a variety of dishes, including pasta and casseroles.
  • To make it spicier, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
