Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Optional: 2 tsp cinnamon (if making cinnamon bagels)
  • 1 cup thick Greek yogurt
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Everything bagel seasoning
  • Cinnamon
  • Shredded cheese
  • Garlic & herbs
  • Chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. If you prefer cinnamon bagels, add 2 teaspoons of cinnamon to the mix.
  3. Add the thick Greek yogurt to the dry ingredients and stir with a spatula until a rough dough forms. Then, knead the dough gently with your hands until it becomes cohesive.
  4. Lightly flour a clean surface and divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, flatten it slightly, and create a hole in the center using a spoon handle or by rolling the dough into a log and connecting the ends to form a ring shape.
  5. Beat the egg and brush it over each shaped bagel. Sprinkle your preferred toppings generously to add flavor and texture.
  6. Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 22 to 25 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and the bagels are cooked through.
  7. Remove the bagels from the oven and allow them to cool before slicing and serving.
