- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions
- Prepare the Cake Pans – Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients – In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the Wet Ingredients – Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and sour cream to the dry ingredients. Mix until combined. Slowly pour in the hot coffee and stir gently until the batter becomes smooth.
- Bake the Cakes – Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the Frosting – In a large bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing slowly at first. Add heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat until the frosting becomes fluffy and smooth.
- Assemble the Chocolate Fantasy Cake – Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of frosting across the top. Add the second cake layer and frost the top and sides evenly.
- Chill and Serve – Let the cake rest for about 20 minutes before slicing. This allows the frosting to set slightly and makes serving cleaner and easier.
Notes
- Taking the time to prepare the pans properly makes removing the cakes much easier later, especially with such moist cake layers.
- The rich cocoa scent already hints at the deep chocolate flavor waiting in every slice.
- The batter will be thin, which helps create the cake’s soft and tender texture. Coffee enhances the chocolate flavor beautifully without making the cake taste like coffee.
- The smell of warm chocolate cake filling the kitchen is one of those simple pleasures that instantly makes a home feel cozy.
- The frosting should feel silky and spread easily over the cooled cake layers. For an extra elegant finish, garnish with chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips.
