Description

These colorful chocolate chip cookies are delightfully soft and chewy, perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 ½ Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp blue gel food coloring
  • 23 drops violet gel food coloring
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • Optional: Candy sprinkle eyes for decoration
  • Optional: Oreos and Chips Ahoy cookies broken into pieces for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (163°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract, then beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated.
  5. Add the blue and violet gel food coloring, mixing until the color is evenly distributed.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Stir in the semi-sweet and white chocolate chips, reserving about ⅓ cup of each for topping.
  8. Use a 2 Tbsp cookie scoop to portion the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing cookies about 2 inches apart.
  9. Press a few of the reserved chocolate chips, Oreos, and Chips Ahoy pieces onto the tops of each cookie. Do not add the candy eyes yet.
  10. Bake for 9 minutes, or until the cookies are set in the center but still slightly soft.
  11. Immediately after removing from the oven, press additional chocolate chips and candy eyes onto the cookies if desired.
  12. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For coloring tips, consider adding more gel food coloring slowly until you reach your desired shade.
